This is a house on the east side of my hometown (Coffeyville, KS) showing the aftereffects of the July 1 flood/oil spill.

Coffeyville Resources, the refinery responsible for the 71,000 gallons of oil, has offered, as per a 1990 oil spill law, to buy oil damaged homes for 110% of market value. This is good, but unfortunately most of the homes that were hit are only worth 10,000 – 20,000 dollars.

Hopefully these people will be able to find a home to buy in the Coffeyville area. My town isn’t exactly on the upswing, and losing 300+ homes and their occupants isn’t going to help.
