laundromat

Laundromat lives.
Forced smiles and small weather talk.
Six month old magazines and stale crackers and cheese.

The World’s Turning on the TV
clothes turning in the dryer.

The smell of dry cleaning, moist and starchy.
One of the few places everyone brings their dirt and hopes to come away clean.

The laundromat is the clothes’ confessional
Admitting their sins and getting a penance of bleach.
